There are a large variety of handcrafts. Each region has its specialties and most tribes have developed very distinctive cultures. On your way you may find woodcarving products, traditional tribal clothing, different kinds of baskets made of Abaca, hand-woven cottons from the mountain provinces or jewelry made of brass and silver.

The customs is to bargain and as a foreign visitor, accept to be charge higher price than a Filipino. In the mind of a Filipino, every foreigner is an American; and Americans are rich. Remember that few coins out of your pocket can make a meal for the person you are buying from. Prices should be fair for both. Markets are interesting places to hang out in search of some curiosity. It is a good place to buy spices and take some great colourful pictures. 

 Be aware of what you should NOT buy.

Some souvenirs are made from shells, corals, fish or other animals. These things are most of the time illegal to export and you help to destroy the natural sources of the Philippines.
